Improvisation Tips

These are very helpful tips to branch out from the usual ways we practice and to keep being inspired by music.  Which one of these seems most helpful to you when you get stuck?

  1. I found these tips really helpful. I've always struggled with Jazz improvisation, and it is nice to see it in a new light. I think the most helpful thing on this list is to transcribe solos. It is a good way to figure out what your favorite players are doing and through this you can also work on mimicking their sound.

  2. These tips are really great to help structure your improve so you know what is going to happen.I know most the time when i improvised in high school I just kinda went with it as long as it sounded good I was golden

  4. I agree with Tyler that transcribing solos is very important. However, I feel that when it comes to jazz, there is no better tool than listening to the greats. I found these tips to be wonderful advice and are really similar to what we are told in the jazz world.
