College Students and Stress

College Life Stress Nowadays

I love how this article no only addresses the fact that college life can be stressful but also that it has gotten much more competitive over the past years. What do you think are the causes of this inflection? and was it helpful to read about overcoming stress?

  1. I understand that being a college student has gotten more stressful in every way over the years, but it really doesn't have to be this way. I a very strong believer in "mind of matter" and it basically just boils down to how you internalize things that happen throughout your everyday life. It may be hard to believe but I personally have very few times found myself being stressed while in college so far and I intend to keep it that way. My mentality on everything is basically "even if I don't like how something is going the wrong way, there is no point to letting it beat you up mentally or emotionally." Being upset is a state of mind, for me all it is is to tell myself not to be upset and it works fine for me. Maybe I just have it easy and I don't really know what I'm talking about but that's how things are for me.

  2. I agree that the college environment is very stressful. I find myself constantly stressed between music education work, practicing, social life, finding jobs, etc. I completely disagree with the last paragraph of the article in that "Students can change the way they think about things". I feel that the author makes stress seem like an on/off switch that can just be flipped. I think it is important for people to find outlets from their stress such as yoga, karate, or whatever they find helps them relieve stress. I agree that time management is of the highest importance but what if your schedule is so packed that even with good time management you still cannot get everything done? Or you can get it done with putting your health at risk?
